Intercooler Piping and How to Choose the Right One

Intercooler Piping

A few weeks back, we released an article educating the public a bit on turbo diesel intercoolers.  This week, however, it’s time to talk about intercooler piping!  When it comes to intercooler piping, there’s a lot to know on the topics of quality and functionality.

Diesel Services of America offers you legitimate parts to make your vessel a behemoth on the open ocean, as opposed to a decaying clunker falling to bits every time a wave brushes by.  There are plenty of intercooler piping kits being sold over the web with relatively easy access by various mass production websites or personal vendors through large web sites.  But are these the parts that are guaranteed to keep everything up and running?  Are you getting the fast-food of intercooler piping or the organic meal nature made for you- or in this case, the intercooler piping the company made specifically for your machine to run at its best.

This is where we come to the ever important topic of authenticity and quality of what parts you’re getting for your diesel machines.  There have been plenty of studies or surveys completed regarding how the quality and price of an item reflects how long it will last over time, and how good it is for you.  From skin products, to foods, to electronic devices, it is reflected that if a name is a big brand, it often is such because it can be deemed trustworthy and customers return time after time, again and again.  The same is said for intercooler piping, and we at Diesel Services of America carry those brands that you can be comfortable enough to return to.

A solid and trustable intercooler pipe will often be made out of actual aluminium.  However, there are numerous, different other types to consider as well.  This is where the term “mandrel bent” will come in.  “Mandrel bent” relates to the intercooler piping in the sense that it affects the manner in which the intercooler piping functions.

Mendrel bending is, simply put and in our case, the way the intercooler piping is bent- it will have a steel rod placed within the pipe while it is undergoing the process of being bent.  Crafters will do this because it provides the piping with a greater support so as it doesn’t just snap!  Durability is, afterall, the primary goal- make your money go far internally, so you will have more leeway to complete the other upgrades to your vessel you’ve always wanted to do- something as simple as intercooler piping shouldn’t get in the way of that! There are different types as well when speaking about mandrel bent intercooler piping.  Aluminium, stainless, and steel are the different types.  As mentioned earlier, aluminium is typically the way to go, however the others are viable options.  The first is simple to work with, controls heat well, and isn’t at all heavy.  The others are not as weight sensitive, which isn’t as great for intercooler piping.

When it comes to intercooler piping, Diesel Services of America is here to give you advice on which way to go with your project.  We know it’s tough to scour the internet and come across so many different opinions and options, but talk to our team to help guide you in the right direction today!
